A provincial in high light. No smoke, no fire

They say that only time and distance treats a broken heart. I believed in this, forever, as it seemed to me then, leaving Briastl - a city in which I experienced so many gloomy adventures and experienced the bitterness of unrequited love. From the flame of past passions in my soul there was neither smoke nor fire.
A long separation helped me forget the insults and reconcile with the past. At least, it was precisely these words that I repeated every evening before bedtime, sacredly believing in their truthfulness. And yet ...
