Famous Photographs. History of Familiar Images 1928-1991. Vol.2

In each of the two volumes of the book "Famous photos", 20 photographs located in chronological order covering the period of about 170 years have been presented. Each of them is a key image in the history of photography: the image that moved it forward in a technical, aesthetic and social sense. There is a tradition to consider these "famous photos by themselves, individually. The most famous in this sense is the classic book of John Sharkovski "Looking At Photos", first published in 1973, however, going beyond the associative, journalistic style of Sharkovski, two represented by the readers of Tomas offer a deep analysis of the content of each photo. We proceed from the history of perception of a particular photo to the question of when and how a concrete motive appeared: a visual measurement of central categories of human experience. In the book, almost all technical techniques and main applications were reflected (from portrait to landscape, from nude to snapshots), which simultaneously turns these two volumes in a brief history of photograph.
