The emphatic latitude of the present edition is fully determined by a semiotic approach, when the events of the past are considered in the context of the history of culture, that is, changing worldview. Such an approach involves the reconstruction of the representation system, causing both the perception of certain events in this society and the reaction to these events, which is the direct impulse of the historical process. The researchers are interested in in this case causal relationships at the level, which is immediately directly, and not indirectly correlated with the event plan. The authors of the collection, famous philologists and historians try to see the historical process through the eyes of its participants, consciously distracting from the objectivist historiographic tradition, a retrospectively describing events from an external point of view.
