The book is dedicated to one of the most difficult problems of ophthalmology - eye burns. It is based on many years of experience in the treatment of burn patients in the ophthalmology clinic of the Military Medical Academy named after CM. Kirov and other medical institutions of the country. It summarizes, systematized and consistently set out the latest scientific developments in this field. Updated information on pathophysiology, the principles of the classification of eye burns, as well as modern methods of treatment and visual rehabilitation are given. The role and value of the stem cells of the corneal epithelium for healing the eye surface during burns are considered in detail.
Particular attention is paid to the importance of moisturizing the eye as one of the conditions of successful epithelization of the cornea.
New effective methods of conservative and surgical treatment are described in detail, including modern methods of using an amniotic membrane, both in the early and remote stages of the burn process. The clinical material shows that new treatment methods significantly improve the results of treatment and expand the possibilities of visual rehabilitation of patients with severe eyes. A approximate scheme of patients with eye burns is given.
The publication is intended for practicing ophthalmologists of both stationary and clinical links, as well as for clinical residents
