Archpriest John (Ivan Nikolaevich Bukharev, 1836-1912) was a spiritual writer, teacher in Moscow schools and a popularizer of the Orthodox faith. His works were designed for a wide audience, even for children.
This book was originally intended for the initial lessons of the Law of God in the lower classes of the gymnasium and public schools. In it, an accessible language explains what prayer is, for which people pray and, as one should understand prayers approved by the Church.
