Evaluation of the cost of football clubs and large sports arenas

This paper discusses three blocks of issues related to business assessment, assets and economic effects for projects implemented in the sphere of sport. Given the fact that football has been and still remains the most popular sport in Russia, football clubs and stadiums will be the object of study, and within the framework of the economic effect of the World Cup in Russia - 2018. The work is structured as follows: Initially, the football club is considered as a subject of economic activity, the sources of its income and the cost structure are analyzed. Further, three approaches to the assessment of the football club are consistently considered - profitable, comparative and cost. Among other things, the features of the calculation of the discount rate in the assessment of the football club are presented. Then the features of the football stadium as an assessment object will be analyzed, key factors forming its cost, requirements for football arena, and finally, by analogy with football clubs, the use of three approaches to the assessment of the football stadium is considered in detail. Separately present approaches to the assessment of investment projects in football. Finally, in terms of assessing the economic effect, factors that determine the effectiveness of the organization and conduct of major sports competitions will be identified, existing methods and approaches to the effectiveness of the organization and conduct of major sports events, including macroeconomic analysis, Ex-Ante and Ex-POST analysis, Willingness to Pay, all considered approaches are tested by the example of the World Cup - 2018. All theoretical aspects affected in this work are illustrated by modern examples from Western and Russian practice, and where it was possible, - appropriate calculations. Work may be of interest both for football managers who manage clubs and / or stadiums and for students studying sports management and seeking to realize their skills and ambitions in modern football
