In the book, the established views on the formation of the language and culture of the ancient Slavs, the problems of Slavic ethnogenesis and the ancestral home of the Slavs are being revised.
Based on a continuous examination of the vocabulary of the Slavic languages and its etymology, the author puts forward his concept, which deepens the chronology of the formation of the Pre -Slavic language and ethnic group, which argues largely the central position of the Slavic language in Europe (the Danube ancestral of the Slavs) and in the Indo -European language version. Many of the concepts of O.N. Trubachev open wide ways for their further research and detail.
The book is of great interest not only for etymologists, onomasts, but also for historians, culturologists, ethnographers, archaeologists, for everyone who is not indifferent to ethnic history and culture of the Slavic peoples
