This edition publishes the manuscripts of the 'Ethics' by the outstanding German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, created by him between 1940 and 1943. In the 'Ethics', he saw the 'task of his entire life', the starting point of its concept - the theological question of how the revealed reality of God in Jesus Christ can be reflected in earthly human life. In the publisher's notes, a new reconstruction of the text is justified, the partially encrypted historical context of Bonhoeffer's ethics is clarified, and its theological significance is shown. To Bonhoeffer, 'Christian ethics' was not just paradoxical (the world was already accustomed to the 'paradoxes of Christianity'), but almost impossible. He dedicated not only his work as a theologian but also his life as a confessor in a situation of special historical responsibility to this impossible task. Olga Sedakova, from the preface to the Ethics Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945) was an outstanding German theologian, pastor, and participant in the anti-Nazi resistance. In 1933, he opposed attempts by the Nazi party to subjugate the Lutheran Church, and he participated in the creation of the Confessing Church. In April 1943, he was arrested by the Gestapo and executed on April 9, 1945, a month before the capitulation of Nazi Germany.
