Author of the book - Mikhail Aleksandrovich Diakonov (1855-1919) - a well-known historian of Ruish law, an ordinary academician and an adjunct of the Imperial Academy of Sciences on Russian antiquities and history. The proposed book Essays of the public and state system of ancient Russia is the processing of the general course of the history of Russian law, read by the author in Derptsky (Yuryevsk) University, and is one of the largest works on the social history of ancient Russia. The first department of the book is devoted to the sources of law and the state structure of ancient Russia from the moment of the birth of the state, and the second - Moscow kingdom.
