This book is almost the first work, covering the history of the missionary activity of the Russian Orthodox Church with X in the XX century (including the era of educating the Slavic people with Saint Cyril and Methodius in the second half of the IX century) It has been prepared on the basis of the course of lectures on the history of the professor"s missions, A. B. Efimova. The role of Orthodoxy is shown in the formation of the self-consciousness and formation of the culture of the Russian nation, as well as its impact on the development of other peoples and nationalities both in the territory of the Russian state and in the adjacent lands. Special attention is paid to the activities of outstanding missionaries of different centuries, as well as the process of folding a centralized approach to the organization of missionary.
