The monograph sets out the ethno -political history of the Gagauz in the second half of the 20th century, their struggle for the mastery, possession and use of the Russian language. The result of this struggle is the creation of a Gagauz ethno -territorial autonomy on a legitimate legislative basis, including with three officially recognized state languages - Gagauz, Moldavian and Russians. The Russian language, gaining the legal status of the state, along with the Moldavian and Gagauz languages, becomes the national treasure of the Gagauz people, a means of socio-economic, ethno-political life, a barrier against assimilationist and discriminatory policy, an important factor in strengthening national identity and ethnic identity.
