The second volume of the multi-volume edition "Essays on the Demographic History of Russia" covers the main issues of demographic development of the Russian population in the 16th-17th centuries based on a significant array of sources. The collective monograph explores the population size and distribution within the territory of the Russian state. For the first time in historiography, demographic processes of different regions of the country have been reconstructed based on written, paleoanthropological, and archaeological data.
