Before readers is a great work of the medieval Icelandic writer Snorri Sturluson “The Younger Edda”, which became one of a kind in the treasury of world literature. In no other work, mythology found such a complete reflection, which not only all the Scandinavian peoples, but also all the peoples speaking in the German languages, consider their most valuable cultural, historical and artistic heritage. This translation gives a prologue, which speaks of the creation of the world, part “Vision of Gulvi”, which describes the creation and destruction of the world of the Scandinavian gods and sets out other stories from Scandinavian mythology, and part of the “language of poetry”, dedicated to the general principles of scaldic poetry with mythological clarifications .
