The Caucasian epic is one of the oldest heroic and epic works of the peoples of the world, standing on a par with the "Iliad", Odyssey, Shahname, Nibelungs and Kalevala.
In our collection, more than thirty Caucasian fairy tales and legends are presented, lovingly collected and processed by the Russian folklorists L.F. Chersky, G. K. Dorofeev, E. 3. Baranov, V. A. Gattsuk, V. N. Haruzina , V. Ya. Svetlov and others. Published in 1895-1911, for the first time they are produced in the form of a single anthology.
The heroes of these works are fearless heroes-narts Sosruk, Alaugan, Shauai and Soslan, their wise mother Satan, the formidable god of the blacksmith crafts, the terrible dragon-zaryag, cunning genies and evil giants- immerse readers into the world of snowy peaks and picturesque waterfalls, mountain rivers and fertile pastures, revealing them a fabulous universe created by the fantasy of the inhabitants of this captivating region.
