This publication represents the union collected by a folklorist, literary critic and teacher Maria Alexandrovna Rybnikova (1885-1942) shortly before the Great Patriotic War of Folklore material - riddles, proverbs and sayings of that era that existed in the first half of the twentieth century. Part of the understanding of the modern both a village resident and a city dweller is alien to the understanding of the modern. Nevertheless, the author managed to demonstrate that the proverbial repertoire includes a huge number of original Russian proverbs and much from the centuries of reserve of folk wisdom remains unchanged.
