Fedor Ivanovich Buslaev (1818–1897) is an outstanding researcher of the history of the Russian language and folklore. He was one of the first to raise the question of the need to study the works of ancient Russian literature and folklore in a close connection with fine art, paid attention not only to the maintenance of the monument, but also to its aesthetic value, emphasizing the inextricable unity of the language, folklore, poetry and mythology.
