Edmund Spencer (1552-1599) was already considered an unsurpassed master of the English verse, poet of poets who instilled in the English verse sweet and musicality.
According to the author’s plan, the poetic epic “Queen Fey”, composed, “to persuade a gentleman or other noble person to virtue and worthy behavior,” was supposed to consist of twelve books, each of them was dedicated to one ethical virtue. All these virtues are embodied in a group of noble heroes, one of which is King Arthur.
The real edition included the translation of the first book of the poem "The Legend of the Knight of the Scarlet Cross, or about holiness" (1590), telling the history of St. George the Victorious, the fantasy of the author included in the circle of King Arthur. In addition, excerpts from the second and third books are given - "Legends about Sir Gyione, or about moderation" and "legends about Britomart, or about chastity"
The translation was made by a poet, writer, religious philosopher and master of artistic translation by Vladimir Mikushevich. The book is equipped with a preface and comments.
