An ancient and medieval myths and parables in the presentation of Gustav Benjamin Schwab - a brilliant German writer and scientist appear before us with a magic kaleidoscope. In the XIX and beginning of the 20th century, his retelling of ancient traditions fascinated all the educated Europe, reading his books was a favorite leisure in the family circle and an obligatory subject - in schools. Schwab was a real encyclopedist: he was vividly interested in folklore of the whole world. That is why, in the set of texts, we find the traditions of ancient and medieval Europe and the multinational world of the East, in which he especially identified the civilization of India and Jews.
