The collection of Welsh Legends "Mabinogion" compiled in the XII-XIII centuries includes twelve stories. Some of them are based on rethought plots of ancient Celtic mythology and once served as a manual for young bards (according to scientists, the name of the collection comes from the Welsh Mab - "Young man") The other part was created under the influence of European knightly novels, which, in turn, experienced the influence of Celtic legends about King Arthur and his knights, Tristan and Isolde, Holy Grail. The story of the adventures of the legendary Bard of Talesin, who lived in the VI century, adjoins the stories of the collection.
Although the Mabinogion was opened by European culture only in the 19th century, it had a great influence on it, contributing to the development of fantasy genres and a literary fairy tale. Colorful and deeply original legends "Mabinogion" are of interest not only for specialists, but also for a wide range of readers.
