The book "Legends and Traditions of China" of the famous Russian orientalist and translator Pavel Vasilyevich Shkurkin (1868-1943), published in Harbin in 1921, first opened the mysterious and bizarre world of Chinese mythology and folklore to the Russian reader. Terrible deities and perfumes, famous heroes, magicians and soothsayers, demons and werewolves, fantastic animals in human form, as well as ordinary mortals - the main characters of these exciting stories.
The collection includes episodes from the history of "Three Kings", legends about famous Chinese doctors, South Chinese, Manchu, Korean and Turkestan legends, as well as legend about the white snake, which are based on real historical facts.
