The famous fairy tale of Leskov about the Tula left today is relevant and interesting to the reader in the same way as in the time of its creation. The paintings of old Russia, recognizable signs of primordially Russian character are shown by the author with great love and, at the same time with bitter irony. And reading this wise parable about the Russian Master, which shut up the Aglit flea, we find a reason for both a warm smile and for sad thoughts. And the grotesque illustrations of the honored artist of Russia Mikhail Petrov strengthen these impressions.
The book is equipped with detailed notes that explain not only the features of Leskov’s usage, but also historical events, personalities and geographical objects
