Not only Russian fairy tales, but also the overseas were in the center of attention of masters of Russian book graphics of the XIX - early XX centuries. It turns out that the brilliant Ivan Bilibin illustrated G.-Kh. Andersen and the history of Scheherazada. And the virtuoso Boris Zvorykin turned the German "Leku Peter" into Russian "Stepcu -Strakhotka" - one of the most published children"s books in Russia until 1917.
Meanwhile, I have a whole gallery of fairy -tale images of the characters of Russian folk tales (more than thirty!) Created one of the most talented illustrators of the book publishers of Ivan Sytin and Joseph Knebel, artist Anatoly Nekuchev.
These and other books have long been a collective rarity and classic, to evaluate the undeniable virtues of which our publication makes it possible. Most of the illustrations presented in it return for the first time in a century.
