We bring to your attention a very rare book, which can be called one of the first Russian novels - “Evening Watches, or Tales of the Slavs of the Drevlyansky”, written by V. A. Lyvshin. We accidentally stumbled upon her in preparations for the press of his “Russian fairy tales”, which were included in our “complete collection of Russian fairy tales”. Vasily Alekseevich Levshin (1746-1826), the Tula landowner who lived in the 18th century, can be safely called the first Russian writer, whom, unfortunately, we are poorly familiar. Meanwhile, he is the author of more than 250 essays on a variety of topics - from agricultural and economic manuals, householding and veterinary instructions to fairy tales in the style of modern fantasy and novels
