Charles Perrault (1628-1703)-French tale writer, poet and critic of the era of classicism. Born in Paris in the family of a judge of the Parisian parliament. The whole world knows Charles Perrault as a beautiful storyteller, but the craving for literary creativity manifested itself in it not so early, and at first it was more entertainment than a serious, deep occupation.
Charles followed in the footsteps of his father: he became a lawyer, then - a collector of taxes, even later - a clerk with his brother, architect Claude Perrault. Studying in college, Perrault wrote poems, many of which were very popular. However, the beginning of his literary career Charles Perrault considered the poem in the comic style “The Wall of Troy, or the origin of Burlesca” (1653) One of the ministers of King Louis XIV Jean Colbert drew attention to the work of the novice writer. Thanks to his patronage, Charles Perrault was appointed secretary of the Academy of inscriptions and elegant literature. After the death of Kolber (1683), he lost this position and literary pension. But this did not stop the writer, he continued to work on literary texts, wrote poetry and began to compose fairy tales. In 1697, he published a collection Tales of Mother Husiness, or the stories and fairy tales of past times with teachings. The literary fairy tales of Charles Perrault were based on the plots of folk tales, which the writer heard in childhood from his nurse. The tale of Rike-Khokhok was composed by the Perrault, and soon its plot became the basis for the fairy-tale works of other authors. At that time, the fairy tale was considered a “low” genre, so Charles Perrault published them under the name of his son Perrault d"Armankur. Charles Perrault laid the foundation for a “fabulous” tradition, his tales largely influenced the work of the Grimm and Hans, Christian Andersen.
There are many translations of the works of S. Perrault, so you can find several options for the names of the same fairy tale. This collection presents the translation of I.S. Turgenev (1867).
The book includes fairy tales: donkey skin, a cat in boots, a red hat
