This guide is the first edition in our country dedicated to the atresia of the esophagus. Based on their own experience and data of literature, the history of the atresia of the esophagus, embryogenesis, epidemiology, classification, the pathophysiology of this disease are covered. A separate chapter is devoted to combined developmental anomalies. The main place is assigned to the antenatal and postnatal diagnosis and correction of the atresia of the esophagus. Along with the traditional methods of treatment, minimally invasive thoracoscopic techniques of operations are described in detail.
Preoperative treatment, peculiarities of surgical treatment are predetermined in detail with various options for the atresia of the esophagus, including large diastasses between the esophagus segments. Possible postoperative complications and ways of correction are discussed. Attention is paid to predicting the outcomes of the atresia of the esophagus and the results of its treatment.
