The age of enlightenment in the history of Western Europe is mostly accounted for by the XVIII century. The onset of the new era in the intellectual, cultural and political life of Europe was marked by changes in the worldview, philosophy and spiritual aspirations of people prepared by the entire course of previous development, and expressed in great revolutions and other social shocks. The traditions of enlightenment are alive and now, because they are based on the humanistic ideals of the Renaissance (Renaissance) and antiquity with historical optimism, rationalism, the desire for freedom of thought and creativity. The main motto of the Epoch of Enlightenment, according to the great philosopher I. Kant, can be formulated like this: "Have the courage to use your own mind!". The newest readings on the literature of the Epoch of Enlightenment gives an idea of the most striking representatives, the life of which was mainly related to the three countries that held the advanced position in Europe of the XVIII century - England, France and Germany. Among them, Goethe, Schiller, Voltaire, Didro, Swift, Fielding and other authors who were working in various genres, whose names, like the names of the heroes of their works - such as Faust, Gulliver, Candid or Robinson Crusoe - are familiar and expensive readers
