Jack London's 'South Sea Tales', written under the impression of a Pacific voyage on a self-designed vessel, are thrilling stories of human courage and resilience tested by the vastness of the sea and tropical storms, of pristine nature and fearless inhabitants of distant islands, of the clash of two worlds, inevitable and merciless, in which the doomed side does not give up without a fight.
The stories are adapted using the Ilya Frank reading method: equipped with transcription, literal translation into Russian, and necessary lexical-grammatical commentary (without simplifying the original text). The uniqueness of the method lies in the fact that memorization of words and expressions occurs through their repetition, without rote learning and the need to use a dictionary.
The manual facilitates effective language acquisition and can serve as a supplement to the curriculum.
For a wide range of people studying English and interested in English culture.
