The collection includes the best examples of Jack London's short prose, such as "Love of Life," "The White Silence," "A Thousand Dozen," "To Build a Fire," and others that have entered the golden fund of American literature.
The text of the stories is adapted using the Ilya Frank method: it is provided with transcription, a literal translation into Russian, and necessary lexical-grammatical commentary (without simplifying the original text). The uniqueness of the method lies in the fact that the memorization of words and expressions occurs through their repetition, without rote learning and the need to use a dictionary. Moreover, the reader gets accustomed to the logic of the English language, beginning to "feel" it.
