The textbook is designed for the comprehensive development of communicative competence necessary for learning the basics of professional language in the field of international relations, and is aimed at developing all types of speech activity: reading, writing, speaking, listening. The textbook includes various tasks on correct word usage, combinatorics, word formation, studying English idioms and searching for their Russian equivalents, as well as communicative tasks (in various forms of dialogues, monologues, round tables), which allow modeling the professional activity of international relations specialists. The development of professional communicative competence is carried out within such subject-lexical themes as "The profession of a diplomat. The tasks of diplomacy in the modern world", "Public speaking. The language of diplomacy and politics", "The role of a leader in the state. Leadership in international organizations", "Mass media: news coverage. The role of mass media in international relations", "International relations and problems of information security". For undergraduate students of the Faculty of International Relations of MGIMO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, studying in the directions "International Relations" and "Foreign Regional Studies".
