The educational material is presented on thermal, kinematic, and dynamic calculation, development, and layout of nodes, mechanisms, and systems of gasoline (carburetor and injector), diesel, combined, gas-diesel, and gas piston internal combustion engines (ICE). Instructions are given on selecting design loads for individual nodes and engine parts, the order of their calculation when determining the main dimensions. The methodology for constructing indicator and polar diagrams of a piston ICE is explained. An example of thermal calculation of a combined ICE on a computer is provided. The sequence of power calculation of a car and tractor, design calculation of chassis units is outlined. An example of the methodology and sequence of calculation of a dry friction clutch is given. Information on the methodology for conducting term papers and final projects on engines, cars, and tractors is presented.
