The structure of the modern electric drive is described, the role and properties of its elements are considered: the mechanical part of the drive, electric motors of different types, as well as transition processes in the open electric drive systems. The issues of regulating the coordinates of the electric drive and calculating the characteristics in closed systems, the principles of operation and the properties of multi -engine electric drives, the issues of electric drives and the choice of engines for various mechanisms. The presentation of the material is accompanied by examples of solving problems with the analysis of modeling results and control issues. Examples of use of modern software packages for calculating and computer modeling of various electric drive systems are included in the application.
