Theoretical and practical aspects of the development, design and operation of continuous monitoring of railway automation and telemechanics (ZHAT) devices currently operating on the railways of the Russian Federation are considered. A formal definition of the preventive state of a technical object is given, which is a fundamental concept in the work of continuous monitoring systems. The place of funding funds is indicated among the funds and measures to maintain a high level of reliability and safety of the operation of traffic control devices. The results of studies are contained in the field of logical processing of diagnostic information for monitoring the state of floor technological equipment. Prospects for the development of continuous monitoring systems on the railways of the Russian Federation are noted.
