The textbook discusses the basic laws, processes and equations of thermodynamics and heat transfer, which occur in modern technology, where the connection with the transformation of thermal energy or its transmission is inextricable. Given the need to increase the general level of teaching discipline, the author considered it appropriate to state the essence of complex processes that occur in internal combustion engines in gas turbine and steam turbines, in compressors, to show the connection of processes with the principle of operation of these plants and the methods of evaluating their effectiveness. The volume of the material being studied is determined by the work program for the training of specialists and the requirements of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The applications contain the necessary reference information on the thermophysical properties of the coolants and the materials used in heat engineering, and at the end of each chapter, control issues of self -testing are formulated for better assimilation of the topics studied and examples of solving characteristic problems are given
