The monograph sets out issues of the formation and development of vortex traces of aircraft. Experimental methods of studying the evolution of vortex traces of aircraft are described in detail and analyzed the influence of various factors on the dynamics of their development. The theoretical foundations of vortex dynamics are briefly set out, on which numerical methods for predicting the evolution of vortex traces are based. The main attention is paid to methods based on the method of discrete vortices. The mathematical model of the near vortex trace, a model for calculating the evolution of a long vortex trace are described. Approaches and algorithms are presented to take into account the influence of the height of the aircraft on the parameters of the near vortex trace, the viscous interaction of the vortex trace with the underlying surface, the effect of turbulence of atmosphere, stratification and shift of the wind. Particular attention is paid to issues of meteorological support for vortex safety systems and its impact on the effectiveness of these systems.
