Issues of the study of amplitude and phase characteristics of the communication channels of radio engineering systems are considered. As part of the studies, a homodine method of converting microwave signals is proposed, which allows measurements of amplitude and phase fluctuations with high accuracy and with the extreme simplicity of measuring equipment. The development of the homodine method of transforming signals for the purposes and objectives of determining the amplitude and phase fluctuations of signals when the radio waves on open direct visibility routes is cited. The features of the homodine transformation of signals in the presence of various destabilizing factors are considered. The issues of synchronization of supporting generators on various parts of the measuring route are considered. The results of theoretical and experimental studies of amplitude and phase fluctuations on ground and marine direct visibility are given.
