The training manual discusses the main types of semiconductor devices and physical processes that ensure their work. The analysis of electronic processes in the volume of semiconductors, in electron-free transitions and in the area of the spatial charge on the surface of the semiconductors is given. The characteristics of diodes, transistors, thyristors, avalanche-milk diodes, LEDs, semiconductor lasers and photo receivers, both based on silicon and promising materials GAAS, GAN, Inp were considered in detail. The quantum effect of the hall, microminiaturization and nanoelectronics, the characteristics of semiconductor devices at extreme temperatures are considered.
In the third edition, sections on the theory of absorption and generation of optical radiation were added, sections on field transistors with high mobility of electrons, reprograming elements of memory and solar panels were additionally introduced, and the description of the characteristics of semiconductor devices at high temperatures.
A textbook is designed for a wide range of areas of training students of classic and technical universities specializing in physics, microelectronics and electronic equipment. It can be useful to graduate students and researchers, development engineers.
3rd edition, supplemented
