The basic concepts in the field of interchangeability are considered. The data on normalizing the parameters of roughness and deviations of the shape and location of the surfaces are given. The principles of constructing a unified system of tolerances and landings, methods for calculating and choosing plantings of smooth cylindrical compounds, calculating the likely percentage of marriage, elements of the theory of dimensional analysis and the norm of accuracy of complex pairs - slotting, binding, threaded joints and gears.
