A review of the application of artificial intelligence methods in determining the design and geometry of the cutting part of the tool is given and an analysis of methods for modeling and optimizing cutting processes is proposed. The concept of creating an application for determining the design and geometry of the cutting tool is described. A model for the provision of knowledge has been developed on its basis, the knowledge base of the main parameters of the cutting process. The stages of creating the structure of the framework model of the knowledge base of the processes of machining materials are described. The algorithm of the program is compiled to determine the design and geometry of the cutting tool.
