This book is devoted to one of the main directions of theoretical cybernetics. The systematic presentation of the most important, already become traditional, the results of the Shannovsky theory of information, as well as a number of new issues developed by the author. The latter include the theory of the values of the Hartlievsky, Bolzman and Shannon amounts of information, the apparatus of potential functions, using parameters of the “temperature” type. The commonality of the mathematical apparatus of the theory of information and statistical thermodynamics is emphasized. The content of the book is grouped in accordance with the three variational tasks characteristic of the theory of information.
