This book is the first part to open the publication of a series of articles on the history of the heat power industry. The role of Barnaul materners is noted, the ideas and projects of which have been ahead of the development of heat power industry for almost 100 years.
A detailed description of the history of the creation, development and functioning of the power plant of the Winter Palace, the largest in Europe at the time of its creation. There is a great contribution to the creation of the first power plants in St. Petersburg of the mineral class officers of Kronstadt, the equipment of the Ministry of Imperial Court Vasily Leonidovich Pashkov and the electrical engineering of Lieutenant Alexander Ivanovich Smirnov.
