The physical foundations of corrosion of pipelines are disclosed. All the methods of their electrochemical protection known today are considered in detail, including using cathode protection installations, anode grounding, protective and drainage protection, the advantages and disadvantages of each method are shown, the conditions for their application are indicated. Attention has been paid to the detection of wandering currents, the organization of remote corrosion monitoring, the features of the protection of pipelines in conditions of stress corrosion and near the protective grounding systems of enterprises. Formulas are given for calculating the designed systems of electrochemical protection of pipelines.
