The textbook provides brief historical information related to the development of electrical drives (EP) of the vessels of the commercial and fish fleet. The issues necessary for the assimilation of the discipline “Ship Electric Podels” are considered in accordance with the work program of the Federal State Educational Standard of the Specialty “Operation of ship electrical equipment and automation tools”, taking into account the requirements of the PDNMV Convention. Particular attention is paid to the phenomena to which the executive organs of the mechanisms that create by means of gear devices or directly loads on the shafts of ship electric drives are subject to. The main methods of calculating and choosing power (drive and executive) electric motors of the main ship electrical drives are given. Some schemes reflecting the characteristic features of the control systems of ship electrical drives are described.
