The book is devoted to the design, development of serial production and operation of light helicopters performed according to the constructive scheme "Flying Channel",-Ka-26, Ka-126 and Ka-226.
Ka-26, created in the OKB N.I. Kamova, became the only purely civilian helicopter produced in the Soviet Union. It spread in more than 800 copies of the flight units of civil aviation of the country and airlines of various states. Ka-26 became the first Soviet helicopter certified according to the Western standards of FAR, and the first Soviet aircraft exported to Japan and Germany. Moreover, this small car was even personal transport of the heads of state!
In the 1980s. The team of designers led by S.V. Mikheeva tried to create a light gas turbine helicopter with one engine and an innovative energy drive on the Ka-26 basis. However, by the decision of the Soviet government, the production of Ka-126 was transferred to Romania, and a politician stood on the path of this machine, which put a cross on its fate. Later, Kamovtsy began the development of a new double -motor light helicopter using foreign GTD and finally achieved the long -awaited success. Ka-226 is currently mass-produced in Kumertau and is prepared for production in India. The machine was adopted by the Russian Air Force, Aviation of the FSB of Russia, flight units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, FSO and the Russian Guard.
The book is based on genuine reports, documents and memoirs of direct participants in the events. A number of historical documents are given, including government decisions on the creation of Ka-26 and Ka-126 helicopters. The illustrative series includes more than 400 black and white and color photographs, mostly original and previously not published, drawings, as well as genuine archival drawings, schemes and sketches
