The general principles and theoretical foundations of the design of a cutting tool designed to make surfaces of complex shape are set out: toothed wheels, parts of slotted joints, etc. The issues of prescribing the appropriate angles of cutting blades, optimizing geometric and accurate parameters of complex instruments are considered. Detailed algorithms for designing a number of tools and examples of their implementation are given.
