The textbook is written by the team of teachers of the department "Piston engines" MGTU named after N.E. Bauman - the leading department of the country, which celebrated in 2007 the 100th anniversary of the training of specialists in internal combustion engines.
The basics of design and modern methods of the strength analysis of piston and combined internal combustion engines are set out, the design of modern domestic and foreign engines is given, the prospects for their development are considered. Along with the traditional methods for calculating the strength of the basic parts of the engines, numerical methods for analyzing thermal and stress-deformed states of engines using modern information technologies are presented.
