The monographs summarize studies associated with the use of a new fractal parameterization method for metallum to the analysis of real structural objects: microstructures of metals and alloys during welding and processing with highly concentrated energy sources, phase-growths, surfaces of fatigue destruction of metals, porous media, structures of coatings, surfaces, and other
In the book, a review of the history of the development of this method is given, from the standpoint of synergetics and the theory of fractals, an algorithm for analyzing structural formation for various objects is proposed. Attracting the concept of fractals made it possible to identify a single quantitative indicator of the degree of uniformity and fragmentation of the structure - fractal dimension - and introduce it into the tasks of modeling and optimizing the properties of materials.
In the monograph, an illustrative material obtained using modern methods of light metallography and electronic raster microscopy is presented. Of particular interest for studying in the magistracy and graduate school are leaflets for solving applied problems of fractal analysis in MathCAD and MATLAB software packages.
The monograph is intended for undergraduates and graduate students of the Mechanical Engineering direction
