Emigration is an old phenomenon that experienced its peak of poeticization during the years of the First World War and was greatly romanticized thanks to Vasily Kandinsky, Ivan Bunin, and Fyodor Chaliapin. Leaving one's homeland is never just for no reason - it is a huge trial for one's character, a certain breaking point and shift in destiny, a challenge that a person throws to themselves and to the world. Prominent artists of the early 20th century and modern times went through emigration, and it did not bypass Dina Rubina, whose work became an undeniable tuning fork of Russian literature at the end of the century. In this book, the author deliberately collected stories somehow related to the theme of finding new land and renouncing the old land. They contain humor, sadness, irony, and compassion that embrace everyone who has just experienced it or is yet to experience it. The experience of emigration cannot be universal, yet, passed down from a great artist, it has the property of helping and supporting. It is precisely for this reason that this book was created.
