An analysis of the regulatory framework in the field of energy conservation is given. The role of electric drives in energy conservation is shown. The issues of practical energy survey of electric drives and the substantiation of technical, economic, energy and operational efficiency of regulated electric drives are considered. The energy characteristics of electric drives with asynchronous engines and frequency converters, indicators of electromagnetic, electromechanical and energy compatibility of electric drives and their impact on the energy of electric drive are presented. Methods of increasing the energy characteristics of electric drives are given. The issues of choosing asynchronous engines for adjustable and unregulated electric drives, frequency converters, brake resistors and other elements are considered. Examples of use, structures and composition of equipment of modern electric drives at industrial facilities and in technical means of the fuel and energy complex are presented.
