This book is dedicated to Egypt. It is a historical narrative that strictly follows the chronology of events. The book is based on the latest archaeological research results and sheds light on the cultural, social processes, and religious beliefs that influenced the formation, development, and flourishing of Egyptian civilization over several thousand years. Starting from the first settlements of the Neolithic era on the banks of the Nile, this book tells the story of the emergence of the Egyptian state (Predynastic era).
After the unification of the two ancient kingdoms, the ancient pharaohs immortalized their lives and deeds by erecting monumental stone monuments. The most impressive of these are the pyramids of the Old Kingdom, the architectural evolution of which can be traced from the ancient pyramid of Djoser to the giant pyramids of Giza, and then in the necropolises of Abusir and Saqqara.
In the Old Kingdom, sculptures and private tombs were located next to the ruler's tomb. In the first transitional period of the Middle Kingdom, they acquired new expressive architectural forms. The book pays great attention to the pharaohs of the New Kingdom, whose military campaigns turned Egypt into one of the most powerful empires in the Middle East. Thanks to a beautiful collection of photographs, the reader has the opportunity to better examine the works of Egyptian art in all their splendor.
This book also examines the last centuries of the pharaohs' era up to the Greek period, including the years of Roman control over Egypt. It was during this time that the culture of the pharaohs came into contact, and in some cases merged, with the culture of Greece and Rome.
