The monograph is dedicated to the analysis of global experience in the field of language study and teaching in those countries that represent the "growth points" of the unevenly developing global system. Language study, both first, second, and foreign languages, occupies a significant portion of educational curricula in any country and consumes a considerable amount of material, intellectual, and human resources. Much less frequently studied are the connections between language study and concepts such as national identity, national unity, nation-building, and territorial integrity, which become particularly relevant in the era of globalization, aiming to weaken national states and construct new and restructure existing national, cultural, and linguistic identities. In the Russian Federation, this area of research is little known, and the accumulated global experience is practically not utilized. For specialists, students, and graduate students interested in issues of educational language policy.
